Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the SpeechDraft app. SpeechDraft is published under the Vardnir name by Tor-Erik Humlen, an independent developer in Norway ("Vardnir", "we", "us"). By using SpeechDraft you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Where you buy through an app store, the store's own terms also apply to the purchase (see section 4).
1. What SpeechDraft is
SpeechDraft is a tool for planning, writing and delivering speeches and presentations. You structure a speech block by block, write your lines inside each block, and deliver it from full-screen cue cards with a stage clock. You can use the app without an account; an account is needed for cloud backup and export.
2. Using SpeechDraft without an account
When you use SpeechDraft without signing in, your speeches are stored only on your own device. We have no copy of them and cannot recover them if you delete the app or lose your device. Signing in backs your speeches up to your account.
3. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account. Sign-in is passwordless, via email links or Sign in with Apple.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your email account and Apple ID secure.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use SpeechDraft, and at least 16 in the EU/EEA where local law requires it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
- One person per account — accounts may not be shared or transferred.
4. Free plan and the Pro purchase
Free: available to everyone. You can keep 2 speeches, write without limits, present the first 3 cue cards of a speech, and export a PDF that carries the SpeechDraft mark.
Pro: a one-time in-app purchase — not a subscription. It unlocks unlimited speeches, the whole cue-card deck on stage, clean PDF export, and Word and Excel export. The price is shown in the store before you buy.
The purchase is processed by the app store (Apple as merchant of record on the App Store; Google when SpeechDraft is on Google Play). Payment, VAT and any refunds — including statutory withdrawal rights — are handled by the store under its own terms. You can restore a previous purchase on a new device with Restore purchases in the app.
5. Refunds
Because the store is the merchant of record, refund requests for the Pro purchase go through the store (for Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com). If you are stuck, email us at hello@vardnir.com and we will help you find the right path. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you have under your local law.
6. Your content
You own everything you write in SpeechDraft. We claim no rights over your speeches, notes, or any other content you produce with the app, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
You grant us a limited licence to host, store, and process your content solely to provide the service to you (for example, syncing it between your devices and generating your exports). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
You are responsible for the content you create and must have the necessary rights to it.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use SpeechDraft to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation, or infringe anyone's intellectual property or other rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data, or to probe, disrupt, or overload the service.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the service, or access it by automated means other than published interfaces.
- Resell or sublicense access to the service.
If you believe content stored through SpeechDraft infringes your copyright, contact us at hello@vardnir.com and we will review and respond promptly.
8. Availability and changes to the service
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, apply updates, add or change features, or temporarily suspend parts of the service. The core of the app — planning, writing and the cue cards — works offline on your device. We recommend exporting important speeches regularly.
9. Termination
You can stop using SpeechDraft, or delete your account from inside the app, at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these terms; where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data. On account deletion, your cloud data is deleted within 30 days (see our Privacy Policy for retention required by law). Speeches stored on your device are yours and stay on your device.
10. Your responsibility — use at your own risk
SpeechDraft is a planning and delivery tool. What you write, say, publish, or otherwise do based on your use of SpeechDraft is entirely your own responsibility and at your own risk. In particular:
- Your content and its consequences: you are solely responsible for the content you create and for anything you deliver or publish from it — including its accuracy, legality, and any claims by third parties (for example copyright, defamation, or privacy claims).
- Not professional advice: templates, suggested durations and structures are generic creative aids, not professional advice. Following them does not guarantee any outcome.
- Your own backups: you are responsible for keeping copies of work that matters to you. Export important speeches regularly. We are not responsible for content lost from your device or your account.
- Third-party services: where the service depends on third parties (app stores, hosting, email delivery), we are not responsible for their failures or outages.
11. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by the law of your country of residence, you agree to indemnify and hold Vardnir harmless from any third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service in breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right. This does not apply where the claim was caused by our own breach of these terms, and it does not limit any rights you have as a consumer.
12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
SpeechDraft is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Your use of the service is at your sole risk. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or opportunities, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for all claims combined is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 50 if you have paid nothing.
Consumer rights: nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence — including liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (such as for intent, gross negligence, or personal injury). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you additionally benefit from the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. All other disputes shall be resolved in the Norwegian courts.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@vardnir.com — most issues can be resolved directly. EU/EEA consumers may also contact their national consumer protection body (in Norway, Forbrukertilsynet).
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes we will notify account holders by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you continue to use SpeechDraft after changes take effect, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can stop using the service before then.
